Description: BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a watch case comprising a hollow middle part or bezel to reduce its weight and to improve its ergonomics and various components together defining a closed cavity intended to receive a watch movement and means display, wherein said components comprise an ice and a bottom and wherein the middle or middle-bezel has a first bearing surface cooperating with the ice and a second bearing surface cooperating with the bottom.
EP 0 379 974 discloses such a watch case in which pads are integral with the inner wall of the middle-bezel for positioning axially a casing ring for fixing a movement in the box. In this document, the ice and the bottom are driven through gaskets into openings in the caseband defined by first and second cylindrical bearing surfaces.
A major drawback of such a watch case lies in fixing the bottom by driving or snapping which complicates the after-sales maintenance operations of the movement compared to a watch case having a screwed bottom. The embodiment according to this document comprising a recessed middle does not allow to screw a bottom on this middle, the thickness thereof is too low.
The present invention relates to a watch case of the aforementioned type comprising a middle part or hollow middle-bezel, an ice and a bottom which is distinguished by the fact that the middle part or the middle part-bezel has tapped supports including the threads open on an annular support surface of the middle part or the middle part-bezel and the fact that the bottom is fixed to the middle part or the middle-bezel by screws screwed into said threads of the supports.
The present invention also relates to a timepiece provided with a watch case according to claim 1.
In a particular embodiment of the invention, some of the threaded supports attached to the middle part or the middle-bezel are secured to fixing studs to position and fix a movement in the watch case.
The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the watch case according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view from below of the watch case without ice or bottom.
Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view from below of the middle-bezel of the watch case.
Fig. 3 is a partial section along the line A-A of FIG. 1 of the watch case with its ice, its bottom and the movement it contains.
The watch case illustrated in the drawing comprises a middle-bezel 1 having a first upper support surface 2 and a crimping face 3 defining an upper opening in which is placed a lining 4. An ice cream 5 is driven in this upper opening bearing against the first bearing face 2 and compressing the liner 4 against the crimping face 3 to ensure a tight attachment of the ice 5 on the middle-bezel 1. The middle-bezel of this box can in 'other executions be replaced by a case on which is fixed a telescope.
The middle part or the middle-bezel is recessed and therefore has a cavity 6 opening towards the inside of the box so as to lighten the maximum this room which reduces the weight of the middle part or the middle part -lunette and its cost especially when the middle part or the middle-bezel is made of precious metal, gold, platinum for example.
This watch case further comprises several threaded supports 7, eight in the example shown, located in the cavity 6 of the middle part or the middle-bezel 1 and fixed thereon. In the illustrated example, each of these supports 7 has the shape of a cylindrical pin, a part of small diameter 9 is introduced into a blind hole 10 made in the upper part of the middle part or the middle case-bezel 1 and whose a part of larger diameter 11 is provided with a tapping 12 through a lower part of the middle part or middle-bezel 1 and is flush with a second bearing surface 13 of the middle part or middle-bezel, annular and s extending parallel to the first bearing face 2 and the plane of the watch case. The tapping 12 of the support 7 is therefore accessible from the second lower support surface 13 of the middle part of the caseband 1.
The watch case further comprises a bottom 14 coming to bear against the second annular bearing face 13. This bottom is fixed by screws 15 which are screwed into the threads 12 of the supports 7. A seal 16 is compressed between the bottom and the middle or middle case-bezel 1 to ensure a tight fitting.
In the illustrated embodiment, the watch case comprises eight supports 7 uniformly distributed around the middle part or middle part-bezel 1 for screwing the bottom 14.
In the illustrated embodiment, four of the eight supports 7, so one in two, is secured to a stud 17 having a notch 18 for positioning a nesting ring 19 encircling a movement and means of display in the box both axially and laterally.

Claims (10)
[1]
In variants of the watch case, it may have only three supports 7 each being provided with a pad 17. The supports 7 and the pads 17 are preferably made of the same material as the middle part or middle case-bezel 1 especially if the box is of precious material, but they can also be made in another material according to variants. The fixing of the supports 7 on the middle part or the middle-bezel 1 can be done by welding, brazing, gluing or hunting. Thanks to this embodiment of the watch case can, despite the small thickness of the middle part or the middle-bezel, have a thread long enough to secure the bottom with screws. In this embodiment of the watch case, the pads 17 replace the casing of the box, the circle 19 is positioned and fixed on the box by these pads 17, any means for fixing the movement on the pads can to be used. In the illustrated embodiment, the supports 7 connect the lower part of the middle part or middle-bezel receiving the bottom to the upper part of the middle part or the middle-bezel receiving the ice and strengthens and stiffens the middle part or the middle case-bezel so that it, despite its small thickness, is rigid and solid. In other embodiments, the supports 7 may have different shapes and be set differently on the middle part or the middle-bezel for example only on the lower part thereof. What is important is that the threads of the supports 7 open on the second support face 13 receiving the bottom to be able to fix the latter with screws 15. [0021] In variants, the watch case may comprise a middle and a bezel assembled on top of each other instead of a middle-bezel in one piece. In all cases, the watch case comprises an envelope formed either the middle-bezel or a middle and a bezel. In all embodiments, the end of the supports 7 passing through the lower part of the middle part or the middle part-bezel 1 is secured to the middle part or the middle-bezel by driving, gluing, welding, brazing or any other waterproof means. In the illustrated embodiment, the pins forming the supports 7 through the cavity 6 of the middle part or bezel-lunette 1 recessed in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the watch case. The pads 17 serving as bearing surfaces which support the nesting ring vertically and laterally are either fixed by welding, gluing, driving, soldering or other on the second end of the pins 7, the one having no threading 12 , either came from a work piece with these pins. With the described construction comprising the supports 7, it is possible simultaneously to strengthen a middle part or a middle part-hollow bezel, to fix a bottom 14 with screws 15 and create a structure, the pads 17, serving as bearing surfaces for the casing ring. claims
